Hey, I'm Nick 👋
Ever since I was a teenager I've been fascinated by code. Less than 1% of the world's workforce actually write it, but collectively it enables the modern way of life. That spectacular efficiency is what drew me to software engineering and keeps me going today.
I pride myself in my product engineering mindset and thrive in cross-functional teams with collective ownership of their work. I am a strong advocate of lean practices and am not satisfied until I've made an even bigger impact than yesterday. The best way to do that is to find force multipliers, and engineering has many of those. I enjoy mentoring and collaborating with other engineers, pushing the limits of what is possible to automate, or better yet staying close to the product so I can quickly realise when code does not have to be written at all.
It's great to meet like minded people, so if you've made it this far I'd love to hear from you - be it a job, your crazy startup idea, or just to chat about tech. Even if it's a bit different to what I've done before, I'm a polyglot at heart. I can write more computer languages and speak more human languages than I care to count, so let's add another!
Much of my code is proprietary, but check out the source for this website, or how I took automation to the next level by configuring everything on my Mac with code.
Yes.
I'm open to exploring possibilities.
Yes.
Of course! I would only visit the office on special occasions, though.
I'm primarily motivated by continuously learning to solve real problems in a strong, supportive culture that attracts like minded driven individuals. The exact way I would like to solve those problems will depend on the business situation and in fact I prefer a bit of variety when I can get it. I prefer to avoid excessive meetings or anything else that distracts from the core problems I was hired to solve, though.
Let's talk more.

I am actually very keen on finding nonprofits relating to code as long as the time commitment is reasonable.
I'd love to share some advice or look over your CV.
